Adaptable Farrowing

Whilst still currently allowed, the industry is well aware that the long-term future of the fixed farrowing crate is in doubt. The alternatives being considered allow for both crate-less farrowing, with the option of temporary restraint of the sow over the farrowing and immediate post-farrowing periods. These options, we believe, will represent the best interests of the sow, her piglets and operatives, equally.

No time scale is yet in place for any changes. Nevertheless, our involvement with negotiations between DEFRA and Industry means we are in a position to discuss the latest developments and alternatives with our customers.

Our recommended alternative to fixed crates is the AM Warkup Adaptive Farrowing.
