Ventilation & Cooling Technology
A major influence on building performance. Our long relationship with SKOV, the world leaders in livestock ventilation systems, forms the ideal partnership, when combined with our high performance building shells.
Pig Management Technology
Pig performance, and what drives it, must be measured in order to set about improving it. Then it must be monitored to evaluate the effects of any changes. Farm on Line from SKOV measures and evaluates all aspects of pig production, many in real time.
AMW Production Technology
It would be wrong to promote the advantages of investment in technology to our customers and then ignore the advice ourselves.
We invest in both computer hardware and software. This, combined with capital investment in both plant and machinery, continually looks to improve our production efficiency at our East Yorkshire base.
Feeding Technology
.
Ventilation.
- Proper ventilation is essential for pig health and welfare.
- Ventilation systems should provide fresh air, remove excess heat, moisture and gases, and maintain a comfortable temperature and humidity
- Ventilation systems can be natural, mechanical or a combination of both.
- Natural ventilation relies on wind and thermal buoyancy to create air movement.
- Mechanical ventilation uses fans to control air flow and pressure.
- Ventilation rates should be adjusted according to the season, the age and weight of the pigs, and the environmental conditions.
Cooling.
Staying Cool with High Pressure Cooling.
Our Skov ventilation systems keep your pigs’ environment well balanced for optimum efficiency. But, with the advent of warmer summer weather and heatwaves it is absolutely necessary to maintain that balance for welfare as well as efficiency reasons by keeping temperatures down.
.
Pig Management.
Some new technologies for pig housing are:
- Automated individual feedings that monitor the weight and reproductive performance of pigs in large pen gestation.
- Temperature and environment control systems that provide optimal conditions for farrowing and nursery pigs.
- Artificial intelligence and robots that use facial recognition, 3D cameras and machine vision to track the health and behaviour of pigs.
- RFID systems that record individual pigs' feeding patterns and drinking behaviour in a group housing context.
.
Automated Feeding.
- Pig housing automated feeding is a system that delivers feed to pigs in a controlled and efficient manner.
- Benefits of pig housing automated feeding include:
- Reduced labour costs and time.
- Improved feed conversion and animal welfare.
- Enhanced bio security and disease prevention.
- Optimised feed intake and growth performance.
- Types of pig housing automated feeding systems include:
- Dry feeding systems: use augers, conveyors or pneumatic tubes to transport feed from a central silo to feeders in each pen.
- Liquid feeding systems: mix feed with water and pump it through pipes to feeders or troughs in each pen.
- Electronic sow feeding (ESF) systems: use RFID tags to identify individual sows and dispense a customised amount of feed to each sow in a group housing setting.

AMW Production technology.
-From the latest CAD software enabling 3D construction drawings and automated cutting lists, we have recently installed Solidworks and our technical drawing office now produce fully detailed production information.
- New metalwork bending and forming tooling implemented in our own steel fabrication workshop.
-Updated and improved laminating plant and extra vacuum press beds installed.
